The hotel has fantastically friendly employees, especially the waiter in the restaurant. The food is nice for all meals. It has a particularly good location, close to Richards Bay, the golf course, the beach, and places to eat.

A nice size room with rose petal and a view of the car park and the extra bed for a real good stay for business trip. Ideal, stunning location just next door to good areas to visit as well as the ocean. Also, in a very peaceful area in Meerensee Richardsbay.

The rooms with a king size bed. Favourable and perfect spot very close to Inkwazi mall, pelican island, the Harbour and the beach as well as a night club next door. Friendly service with excellent cooking.

I have visited Richards Bay several times since 1998 and always stayed at the Protea Hotel The Richards. Friendly and comfortable hotel. Good location. Very good restaurant and nice sport bar. Friendly staff and excellent service!

Just the general environment and the quiteness>
The rooms are all tiled and somehow its uncomfortable in a cold weather> alternatively they can have half of the rooms with carpet. The beds if they can improve them from double beds to at least queen size> or have two double beds within rooms>single beds are out of fashion in hotels.

Layout of hotel was appealing.
The service was terrible. The front desk clerk attempted to double charge me for my room, even though I had prepaid. Her explanation was uncipherable, and she did not make the slightest attempt to apologize. The breakfast buffet was mediocre at best, and extremely overpriced.

The outside setting. Cleaniss
The Hotel is advertised as a 4* but unfortunately this is definetly not the case. The rooms are definetly sub standard and in no way can this hotel qualify as a four star. I have stayed in better 2 and 3 star hotels.
